What to upload
The files each agent needs, file types and limits.
What should I upload for each agent?
- VAT: bank statements, sales and purchase invoices and receipts. Last period's return is welcome for context.
- Accounts: bank statements, invoices, receipts, and last year's trial balance or accounts.
- MTD: agent statements, bank statements and receipts. Last year's return is welcome for context.
- Tax: P60s, payslips, pension and interest statements, dividend vouchers, rent statements and notes.
Put every file in the one box. You don't need to sort or rename them.
What file types can I upload?
PDF, Excel, CSV, Word, text, images (JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC) and bank files (OFX, QIF and EML). Scans and photos are fine: Vedas reads them.
iPhone photos in HEIC format are turned into JPEGs for reading. Outlook .msg files can't be read yet: save the attachment, or save the email as .eml.
How big can my files be?
- Up to 50 MB for each file.
- Up to 200 files in a job, and 500 MB in all.
- PDFs up to 500 pages. Split a longer PDF into parts.
Can I add more files after the job has started?
Yes. Add them on the job's Documents step. Vedas reads them and works everything out again. To add files to a final job, reopen it first on the Output step. You can't add files to a cancelled job: start a new job instead.
Why was a file set aside?
Vedas checks each file. If a file doesn't look like a financial record for the job, it's set aside and you get a card about it. Press "Leave it out" to agree, or "Ask for a second look" to have the whole file checked.
If Vedas couldn't check a file, it uses the file and the card says so. Press "Leave it out" if it shouldn't count.
A file says Duplicate or Failed
Duplicate means Vedas already has that file in the job, so there's nothing to do. Failed means the upload didn't finish: add it again. If it still fails, check it opens on your computer and is an accepted type.
Some pages of a scan couldn't be read
Vedas tells you which pages it couldn't read, on a card in the job. Upload a clearer copy of those pages, or answer the card with the figures you need.
